# Markify > Markify is a free, source-available Markdown editor for macOS 26 (Apple silicon and Intel). It shows a document on one page with two lenses over the same text — a rendered lens and a Markdown lens, switched with ⌘/ — instead of a split preview. It follows CommonMark and GitHub Flavored Markdown and adds callouts, LaTeX math, footnotes, Mermaid diagrams, YAML frontmatter and MDX files; exports self-contained HTML and paginated PDF; uses on-device Apple Intelligence for proofreading, rewriting and generation; and reads and edits Open Knowledge Format (OKF) bundles. Documents are plain .md files saved exactly as written. - Website: https://spaquet.github.io/markify/ - Download: https://github.com/spaquet/markify/releases/latest (markify-as.dmg for Apple silicon, markify-intel.dmg for Intel) - Source code: https://github.com/spaquet/markify - License: MIT with the Commons Clause (free to use, including at work; resale restricted): https://spaquet.github.io/markify/legal.html ## Help - [Markify Help](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/): Learn to write, format, organize and export Markdown in Markify, the one-page Markdown editor for macOS. - [Getting started](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/getting-started.html): Create, open and save Markdown documents in Markify, and find your way around the window. - [Two lenses](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/lenses.html): Switch between the Rendered lens and the Markdown lens with ⌘/, without losing your place. - [Formatting](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/formatting.html): Format text with the floating format bar, block styles, the slash menu and keyboard shortcuts. - [Markdown support](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/markdown.html): The Markdown syntax Markify renders — CommonMark, GitHub Flavored Markdown, math, footnotes, callouts, Mermaid diagrams, frontmatter and MDX. - [Images and links](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/images-and-links.html): Add images by dragging or pasting, link to other notes, and follow links with ⌘-click. - [Library and find](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/library.html): Search note contents with Spotlight, browse folders and knowledge bundles, and find and replace text in a document. - [Apple Intelligence](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/intelligence.html): Proofread, rewrite, summarize and generate text with Apple Intelligence, entirely on your Mac. - [Export to HTML and PDF](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/export.html): Export a Markdown document as a self-contained HTML page or a paginated PDF. - [Knowledge bundles](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/knowledge.html): Open, browse and maintain Open Knowledge Format (OKF) bundles of Markdown concepts in Markify. - [Command line](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/command-line.html): Open agent reports, validate OKF bundles and export Markdown to HTML from Terminal or a script. - [Settings](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/settings.html): Change where documents are saved, the default lens, fonts, appearance, Spotlight search, Apple Intelligence options and keyboard shortcuts. - [Keyboard shortcuts](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/shortcuts.html): Every keyboard shortcut in Markify, and how to change them. - [Coding agents](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/coding-agents.html): Read coding-agent reports in Markify, with Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode installation. - [Install and update](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/help/updates.html): Download and install Markify on your Mac, open it the first time, and keep it up to date. ## FAQ and legal - [Frequently asked questions](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/faq.html): Answers to common questions about Markify — price, privacy, file formats, Apple Intelligence, installing, exporting and more. - [Legal](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/legal.html): Markify's license, privacy statement, and the third-party software, fonts and specifications it uses. ## Optional - [Media kit](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/media-kit.html): Ready-to-use descriptions, logos and product screenshots. - [Markify compared with other Markdown editors](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/compare.html): Features side by side with Typora, Obsidian, iA Writer and Bear. - [Open Knowledge Format in Markify](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/okf.html): How Markify reads, browses and maintains OKF knowledge bundles. - [Full help as one Markdown file](https://spaquet.github.io/markify/llms-full.txt)
